project overview
Beneath the Petal redirects X-ray imaging, a technology built to see inside the human body without harming it, toward flowers, asking what happens when the same careful, non-invasive attention is given to plants we usually treat as background or material. The animation follows three plants whose inner structures begin to echo human anatomy: the Iris recalls the eye, Nigella the heart and its vessels, and Wild Carrot a nervous or vascular network. Drifting between a natural floral surface and a transparent, X-ray-like version, with scanning tones and glitches that never let the image feel neutral or complete, the piece treats X-ray as a speculative tool of care, imagining a more ethical way of looking at plant life as part of the same ecological process we belong to.
